Tribute for Tony by Shadowthorne Tribute for Tony by Shadowthorne
First off, I did not take these photos. Other members of his facebook pages and such did, I dont know who exactly.

This is Tony. He is the last privately owned exotic big cat in Louisiana, and despite state legislation prohibiting ownership of potentially dangerous animals such as tigers, the truck stop owner was able to keep the animal due to a grandfather cause in the ruling. A permit issued recently gives him permission to keep Tony at the truck stop through 2011, 24/7.

A truck stop is not a place to keep any animal, not a dog, not a horse and certainly not a tiger. I dont know about the rest of you, but i dont even like to stay at a gas station for more than a few minutes...
Please support Freeing Tony from his truck stop prison, help his supporters get him sent to an accredited sanctuary

If you need more info on how to help, or on the situation, please contact me

From what I know, they're still fighting for Tony to be released to a reputable big cat sanctuary. Hope they get him out of there soon. Have you see the Tiger Truck Stop Website? They have videos with "information" on why Tony should be allowed to stay there. Oh my gosh, SO MUCH LYING! SO MUCH LYING ON THOSE VIDEOS! And overall ridiculousness.

You are correct in that...the owner of the truck stop has lost his permission to keep Tony, but the legal team behind Tony are still working to have him released as soon as possible, rather than when the permit is up.
I have visited the site... It's disgusting what they are trying to say to make people believe them. It angers me every time I see it :/

Yeah, I know they're still fighting for him. On account of the ridiculous last-ditch effort by the owner to keep his "pet"/advertising gimmick in those horrible conditions legally. I swear, that man makes no sense! When Tony goes to the reputable sanctuary he deserves to live at, I will throw a party. With cake! Cake with orange and black icing....OF JUSTICE!

such a sad empty cage :( he must be going out of his mind with boredom and tedium. My heart goes out to him

I signed four to five -- if not more -- petitions by well-known animal organizations (like the WSPA) asking for Tony's release to a sanctuary... of course, they always go ignored and his owner's permit to keep him renewed time and time again. It is simply not fair -- not for Tony, not for whoever is fighting for his release.

I love tigers, but I'd rather see one in its habitat than to keep one as a pet...

I know, its been a very frustrating fight. But we refuse to give up.
Mr. Sandalin (Tonys owner and the man who owns the truck stop) is currently being sued by a well known group that deals in law practices concerning animals
Hes a group on dA that updates on his situation if your interested

In the photo of Tony laying down in the grass, you can see that the bottoms of his paw-pads are pinkish. In the wild, most big cats will have black paw-pads from trecking over natural earth, collecting dirt and such as they go along. The fact that Tony's pads are pink tells me that he spends a LOT of time pacing on concrete or a similar hard-packed compound. He's done this so much that the dirt has worn away. That's one hell of a lot of pacing.

You are correct. He is rarely in the grassy area hes seen in a few of these
His "owner" keeps him in a shed sized enclosure that is floored with concrete, with not but a small wooden and cinderblock structure in the middle for shelter

That's no place for a tiger. If Tony's owner really cared about him, he'd hand Tony over to Big Cat Rescue and never go anywhere near him again.

You would think. But Tony is just a way to get attention and customers to his truck stop
